Artist's Description
A portrait of one of the foundation sires of the Spindletop Farm of Kentucky. Chief was their first World Grand Champion winner. This painting is currently on exhibition with the American Academy of Equine Art for their Spring Invitational at the Spindletop Mansion in Lexington, Kentucky till May 28th. Today, this painting is part of the permanent collection of the American Saddlebred Museum of Lexington, KY.
About Jeanne Newton Schoborg
The Midwest is where I grew up, but as a child, I traveled to three continents with my parents and sister. My family's jewelry business took us everywhere! There wasn't a museum, monument, pyramid, or castle we missed along the way...Dad and a multitude of tour guides made certain of that! From the age of nine till we turned eighteen, our summers were filled with the sights, sounds, and tastes of the world. I attended Stephen's College from 1974 to 1979 where I graduated with a B.A. in Studio Art. I minored in Equestrian Science, of course! Now, one would expect I learned a lot from those 5 years, but I really didn't...at least, not what I was looking for. It was the mid seventies and well...you remember the seventies? Horse art was...
